1 Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest
1.1Due to a technical failure, Dawn Bowden MS temporarily chaired in accordance with Standing Order 17.22 while the Chair, Lynne Neagle MS, re-joined.
1.2 Dawn Bowden MS welcomed Members to the virtual meeting of the Children, Young People and Education Committee.
1.3 Dawn Bowden MS stated that, in accordance with Standing Order 34.19, the Chair had determined that the public were excluded from the Committee’s meeting in order to protect public health but that the meeting would be broadcast live on www.senedd.tv
1.4 Apologies were
noted from Suzy Davies MS for the second evidence session.
2 Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Bill - evidence session 10 with faith group, Wales Association of Standing Advisory Councils on Religious Education and National Panel for Religious Education representatives
2.1 The Committee heard evidence from the Catholic Education Service, Church in Wales, Wales Association of Standing Advisory Councils on Religious Education (WASACRE) and National Panel for Religious Education (NAPfRE)
2.2The Catholic
Education Service agreed to share with the Committee a paper they
had produced providing details of their concerns about the impact
of potentially providing two syllabi under the Bill’s RVE
provisions.
3Curriculum and Assessment (Wales) Bill - evidence session 11 with non-religious group representatives
3.1 The Committee
heard evidence from Humanists UK and the National Secular
Society.

noted.
5 Motion under Standing Order 17.42(ix) to resolve to exclude the public for the remainder of the meeting

agreed.

considered the evidence it heard in the previous sessions.

7.1 The Committee
received a presentation from Wavehill of the analysis of written
evidence.
8 Consideration of the Committee's forward work programme
8.1 Due to time constraints this item was moved to the next meeting on 21 October 2020.
